Chicago-born pianist Dr. Douglas Jurs serves as Associate Professor of Music (Piano and Piano Pedagogy) at Elon University in North Carolina. He has performed as a pianist throughout North America, Europe, China, and India, and previously was a Musician in Residence at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada. He holds degrees in performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music, and the University of Wisconsin – Madison. His pre-college piano students have won prizes in several international competitions, and he frequently mentors his college students on varied research and performance projects.
