With our ever-expanding resources, MBC aims to spread awareness of and access to music by Black composers to children and adults alike!
Our Educational Materials include a series of books that supplement current string instrument training. They offer a wealth of music by Black composers, as well as information about Black classical music-making throughout history. We are also producing a Black composers timeline poster with the help of the Sphinx Organization, as well as a coloring book of forty of the most important and fascinating Black composers who are featured in MBC’s music collections.
Our Online Educational Resources will supplement our book series. They will include recordings, downloadable piano accompaniments, downloadable additional repertoire, teaching tips and videos, games, links to other websites that highlight Black classical composers and performers, and more!
Other online resources include a Living Composers Directory, a Bibliography full of diverse print resources about Black composers throughout history, and a Blog that details MBC’s on-going activities, and reports stories about Black composers of yesterday and today!
If you have ideas for additional resources we could provide that would help spread greater awareness of and access to music by Black composers, please let us know! Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
